Hello.
Thanks for visiting my online portfolio and taking the time to learn about me. I'm happy you're here! I'm an eager, recent PR grad from Kent State University with a passion for all things social media and adventure. I love what I do, and I love that I chose to study a career I absolutely love. I enjoy writing and using social media to connect with people. I like taking risks and diversifying my experiences. With that being said, my experiences with a small non-profit, a bigger non-profit and a corporate organization have allowed me to explore different career paths and enhance my skills in multi media, print, design and web. Currently, I'm working as a freelance writer for Akron Life Magazine. I write features for the magazine and connect with sources to enhance my stories. Prior to Akron Life, I worked for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the Learning and Development department. Hired in, I was responsible for creating training materials for our clients. This involved writing, creating and loading quizzes into our Learning Management System (that was an adventure in itself!) Now, I took over the communications and marketing for our department. I create content and design flyers for clients, as well as designing marketing materials and online presentations, information for the website and materials for the annual Dealer Conference. Previously I worked as a special events intern at Akron Children's Hospital. I was always intrigued by event coordinating so when the opportunity arose, I took a chance. I loved it! I assisted in the implementing of six major fundraising events for the hospital, designed materials for the Holiday Tree Festival and Dancing for the Kids and coordinated event volunteers. Other experiences include Portage Learning Centers where I was the PR intern. I redesigned and created content for the monthly newsletter, provided content for the website and created and maintained our Linkedin and Facebook profiles. I'm definitely not all work and no play. Outside of work, I travel (I studied abroad in Italy for four months -- look at my blog!), drink way too much coffee on a Saturday morning, watch independent and 80s movies, explore with my best friends and try as many new experiences as possible. I'm open to new experiences, and I love to meet new people. Want to talk more? Connect or email me -- don't be shy! |
